Ep 6: Did I Do That??

Steve Urkel was famous for his nerdy clumsy ways. He has some of the most memorable catchphrases. One of Mandi's favorite catchphrases from this unique character is, "Did I do that?" In this episode, Mandi continues her love story, sharing some of the awkward "Did I do that" moments she experienced with her husband.  Find Me Online: Website Facebook Instagram Transcript Mandi : Mandi Frantz here welcoming you to my podcast - Find Your Beautiful: Life Through the Eyes of a Christian Disabled Woman.  [Upbeat Background Music] Mandi : Sitcoms were all the rage in the 90's. Ok, I don't know if that's really true, but watching them sure was one of my fave pass times. Plus, so many of them are making comebacks! I was a huge Full House fan, and yes, I binge watch Fuller House. Will Smith kept me laughing in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. One of my all time favorite shows was Family Matters. Everyone knows Steve Urkel made that show, tho

To be honest, I'm not sure if this label is only used when one person has a physical disability, or if it's used more broadly, but apparently it is a label I can now use to describe my marriage. Interabled is yet another word my computer underlines in red because it is so new and unrecognized by my word processors. Oh good old labels! My relationship is probably what I get asked about most. Despite the more obvious things like my awesome pink chair

Part of KEEN’s vision is to provide respite and a supportive network for the parents of these young Athletes. This idea of a caregiver needing respite has been a tough concept for me to come to grips with. Honestly, I see the extreme need for it when I’m with the families I work with. While I know caring for their kids is a part of their everyday, I can only imagine how nice it must feel to know their

Ep 3: Trapped Where I'm At

Despite being on track to attend a terrific law school, Mandi found herself stuck in the Big Apple because of a flawed health care system. In this episode, Mandi continues the discussion about the American system and the catch 22s it forces people with disabilities to face. [Upbeat Background Music] Opening: My career path was laid out for me by the time I was 7 years old. I was forming clear sentences at the age of 2 and always had a sassy attitude. Growing up, I was given the nickname Chatterbox. The career my mom planned for me was as a lawyer. I was excited about this job for a long time. In my mind, I believed I had all of the natural talent to be successful at it and it was prestigious. I believed it would pull me out of my living style and allow me to live a lavish life, taking my fam

[Upbeat Background Music] Mandi : A quick note before I jump into today's episode. I decided to change today's title because I think this one is more fitting. Since I'm new to this whole podcast thing, I'm really grateful for your flexibility. Now, on with the show. [Bling] Mandi : I started paying rent when I was 16 years old. I paid $400 a month to sleep in a small room with my older sister. I shared every room in the house with 4 other females. My landlord? You guessed it, my mother! Now before you go passing judgment on my momma, for this at least, you need to understand the situation. I skipped third grade and my birthday is in July. This mean

[Upbeat Background Music] Mandi : 3 strikes and you’re out! Whether you’re a baseball fan or not, most of us have experienced this rule in life. This rule can be found in attendance policies at school and work, and are often instilled in us from childhood as a behavior modification tool. In my house, it’s taken on the form of the good old 1, 2, 3 count before placing my children in timeout. The 3 strike rule is a pretty effective way of weeding people out, and making sure time and space aren’t wasted. It’s also an effective way of making people behave in a way that we want, and maybe even need, them to. If the Umpire of life played by this rule, I’d be in big trouble, wouldn’t you?
